The best AI tools for product managers
Product management is many jobs in one, and AI helps differently at each stage. Here are the best tools for each part of the work, from understanding customers to shipping with your team. Pick the stage you're working on to see its tools. Most PMs need only two or three of these tools, not all of them.
Stage 1 of 7Discovery and customer insight
Understand users and their problems. AI shines at turning hours of interviews and piles of feedback into clear themes.
Best for making sense of user research
1. Dovetail by Dovetail
One place for customer and user research. Bring in interview transcripts, survey answers and feedback, and its AI summarises them, groups recurring themes and helps you find past insights.
- Free plan for individuals, no card needed
- AI groups feedback into themes automatically
- Builds a searchable library of research
Watch out: The free plan covers just one project and one feedback channel. Larger plans are priced on request.
Price: Free plan; Enterprise price on requestOn: Web
Best for testing with real users
2. Maze by Maze
A user-research platform for testing prototypes, running surveys and usability tests with real users, and turning the results into reports. Its AI can run interviews for you and find themes in what people said.
- Test prototypes with users early, on every plan
- Automated reports from tests and surveys
- AI-moderated interviews and theme analysis
Watch out: Most of the AI features (the AI interview moderator and Maze AI) are only on the Enterprise plan.
Price: Plans on the pricing page; AI interview features on EnterpriseOn: Web
Best for interview and meeting notes
3. Granola by Granola
An AI notepad for meetings. It listens through your own computer or phone, with no bot joining the call, and combines what was said with your own notes into clear summaries you can search and chat with later.
- No meeting bot, so calls feel normal
- Turns rough notes into clean, structured summaries
- Free plan to start
Watch out: Tell people when you're recording or transcribing a meeting, as consent rules vary by country. The free plan keeps only 30 days of meeting history.
Price: Free plan; Business $14 per user/monthOn: Desktop, iPhone, Android
Stage 2 of 7Hypotheses and experiments
Turn assumptions into hypotheses, test them and measure the result. AI lets you ask your product data questions in plain English.
Best free all-in-one for analytics and A/B tests
1. PostHog by PostHog
Product analytics, session recordings, feature flags and A/B experiments in one tool. Its built-in AI analyst, PostHog AI, answers questions about your product data in plain English and can build charts, dashboards and surveys for you.
- Generous free monthly allowance: 1 million events, 5,000 recordings and 1 million feature-flag requests
- Test a hypothesis and measure the result in the same tool
- Ask your data questions in plain English
Watch out: A developer needs to add it to your product first. Costs grow with usage once you pass the free allowance.
Price: Free monthly allowance; then pay for what you useOn: Web
Best for analytics in larger product teams
2. Amplitude by Amplitude
A product analytics platform that shows how people use your product, where they drop off and what keeps them coming back. An AI assistant answers data questions, and it also offers session replays and experiments.
- Free plan with 2 million events a month
- AI assistant and agents on every plan
- Mature and widely used by larger product teams
Watch out: The free plan allows only one active experiment; full A/B testing needs the Growth or Enterprise plan, priced on request.
Price: Free plan (2 million events a month); Growth and Enterprise on requestOn: Web
Stage 3 of 7Strategy, roadmapping and prioritisation
Decide what to build next and why. AI summarises feedback and helps connect requests to goals.

1. Productboard by Productboard
A product management platform that gathers customer feedback from many places, uses its AI (Spark) to summarise it and spot recurring themes, and links what customers ask for to your roadmap.
- AI summaries of large volumes of feedback
- Shows which requests come up most, to back roadmap decisions
- Built specifically for product teams
Watch out: Aimed at teams and companies, with no free plan or public price. It can be too much for a solo product manager.

Best for linking strategy to the roadmap
2. Aha! Roadmaps by Aha! Labs
Roadmapping software that links company goals to initiatives, features and releases. Its built-in AI assistant helps product teams write, research, sketch prototypes and draft release notes.
- Connects strategy to the roadmap in one place

Write PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria faster. AI gives you a strong first draft; you add the judgement.
Best tool made for PRDs

Stage 5 of 7Prototyping and validation
Show, don't tell. AI turns an idea into something users can click before engineers write a line of code.
Best for working app prototypes without code

- Working prototypes, not just pictures of screens
- No coding needed to start
- Free daily credits to try it
Watch out: The free plan gives 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month). Treat what it builds as a prototype: engineers should review it before it goes anywhere near production.
Price: Free plan (5 credits a day); paid Pro and Business plansOn: Web
Best if your team designs in Figma
2. Figma Make by Figma
Figma's AI tool that turns a written prompt, or your existing designs, into a working, clickable prototype. Everything it builds is backed by real code and stays editable on the canvas, so you can switch between design and code.
- Works inside Figma, so it can start from your own designs and components

Price: Free plan with limited AI credits; Full seat from about $16/month (Professional plan)On: Web, Windows, Mac
Best for quick mockups by non-designers
3. Uizard by Uizard

- Very easy to learn; made for founders, product managers and students
- Turns screenshots and paper sketches into editable designs
- Ready-made templates to start from
Watch out: The free plan allows only 3 AI generations a month, and designs live in Uizard's own editor rather than in Figma.

Planning across many teams, with programme increments, dependencies and risks. Mostly relevant in large organisations.
Best for SAFe at enterprise scale
1. Jira Align by Atlassian
Atlassian's planning tool for large organisations. It connects strategy to the work of many teams across portfolios and programmes, supports SAFe and other scaling frameworks, and maps dependencies, risks and progress.

How to choose
- Starting out with AI as a PM? ChatGPT or Claude for writing, plus Granola for meetings, covers most of the day.
- Lots of feedback and research to digest? Dovetail, then Productboard to connect it to the roadmap.
- Want evidence before you build? Prototype in Lovable or Figma Make, test it with users in Maze, and measure the real thing with PostHog.
- Your company runs on Jira? Jira Product Discovery and Rovo fit straight in; Jira Align and Miro for SAFe PI planning.
- Retrospectives and workshops? Miro’s AI groups sticky notes into themes in seconds.
Where AI genuinely helps a PM, and where it doesn’t
AI is excellent at the heavy lifting: summarising interviews, drafting documents, spotting patterns in feedback and answering data questions in seconds. It’s poor at the parts that make a product manager valuable: knowing which problem is worth solving, weighing trade-offs between users, business and technology, and earning the trust of a team. Use these tools to see the evidence faster and write less from scratch, then apply your own judgement.
How we pick
Features and prices come from each tool’s official pages, checked on the date shown on each card, and we only include tools that independent reviews also rate well. No tool pays to be listed. See how we pick across all jobs.
